The IF-FYQ1 Foam Peeling Machine is a specialized piece of equipment designed for one purpose: producing thin, uniform foam sheets from cylindrical foam blocks. Unlike horizontal cutters that slice blocks into thick sheets, the IF-FYQ1 uses a peeling mechanism to unwind continuous thin sheets — like peeling a roll of paper — from 2mm up to 30mm thick.
This guide covers the IF-FYQ1's technology, specifications, applications across multiple industries, and its role in a complete foam processing line alongside the IF-FPQ1 Horizontal Cutter and IF-LT1650 Long Track Cutting Table.
Continuous thin-sheet peeling from cylindrical foam blocks
Consistent thickness across full sheet width and length
Continuous sheets up to 50 meters from a single foam block
Mattress, furniture, automotive, and packaging applications
The IF-FYQ1 operates on a rotational peeling principle. A cylindrical foam block is mounted on a rotating spindle. As the block rotates, a sharp peeling blade engages the outer surface and peels a continuous thin sheet — similar to how a lathe peels wood veneer from a log. The peeled sheet feeds onto a roller system that maintains tension and guides it to the output.
The foam block is mounted on a motorized spindle that rotates at a controlled speed. The peeling blade moves parallel to the spindle, maintaining constant contact with the foam surface.
The blade depth is controlled by a digital micrometer, allowing the operator to set sheet thickness from 2mm to 30mm with ±0.5mm accuracy.
Unlike batch cutting, peeling produces a continuous sheet. A single 1m diameter block can produce up to 50 meters of 30mm-thick foam sheet or 400 meters of 2mm sheet.
The take-up roller system maintains consistent tension on the peeled sheet, preventing stretching or wrinkling during output.
Both spindle rotation and blade feed speed are adjustable for different foam densities. Softer foams run slower, denser foams run faster.
Changing between foam blocks takes under 5 minutes. The spindle mounting system accommodates different block diameters without modification.

Thin comfort layers (5-20mm) for mattress toppers, pillow tops, and soft support layers. The continuous sheet allows cutting multiple mattress layers from a single peel.
Upholstery foam sheets for sofa cushions, chair pads, and recliner padding. Consistent thickness ensures uniform comfort across all furniture pieces.
Precision thin sheets for car seat cushioning, headrests, and interior trim panels. The ±0.5mm accuracy meets automotive quality specifications.
Thin foam sheets (2-10mm) for protective packaging inserts, acoustic panels, and thermal insulation layers.
Precise thickness setting with digital readout. Store settings for different sheet thicknesses.
Automatic winding of peeled sheets onto output rolls. Consistent tension prevents wrinkles.
Adjustable spindle and peel speed for different foam densities and sheet thicknesses.
High-speed steel blade with long service life. Quick replacement without special tools.
These three machines cover the full foam processing workflow — from peeling thin sheets to cutting and trimming.
Our foam processing specialists can help you integrate the IF-FYQ1 with your existing cutting equipment for a complete thin-sheet production solution.
